Tom is a adopted child, and he serves as a consultant and lawyer in Corleone family. The oldest brother, Sonny is regarded as the most possible successor of Corleone family but he has two fatal disadvantages which are violent temper and rash decisions. Fredo is the second oldest of the kids, and he is seen as the weakest of the three brothers. Connie who is the only daughter is married to an abusive husband, Carlo. The youngest one, Michael, who is a recognized WWII Marine seems to be uninterested in being a part of the family business.
However, when a powerful rival wants to sell drugs and needs Vito’s help, Vito refuses to do it. A conflict between the two mafias derails the peace. Vito is nearly killed by gunmen sent by the rival family. Michael saves him from another attempt while he is recovering in the hospital. Realizing his father is still in danger so he kills the police captain and another head of the mafia family.
